In rural India, women are central to agricultural activity  yet they often remain invisible in decision-making, ownership, and access to income. At the Centre for Collective Development (CCD), we are committed to empowering women farmers in India through cooperative leadership, skills training, and inclusion in agricultural value chains.

The Need for Women-Centric Agricultural Models:

  • Women perform nearly 80% of farming work in rural households
  • Yet, they often lack land rights, financial independence, and institutional representation

CCD’s Women Empowerment Initiatives Include:

  • Formation of women-led farmer cooperatives
  • Training programs on sustainable agriculture practices, leadership, and entrepreneurship
  • Involving women in value addition and processing of crops (e.g., groundnut oil, millets)
  • Access to collective farming equipment and better market linkages

Results That Speak:

  • Nearly 80% participation by women farmers in key CCD projects
  • Enhanced income, dignity, and decision-making power for thousands of women
  • Strengthened community leadership among rural women in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Maharashtra
